Nothing reaches people like a story! The best songs, jokes, anecdotes, lessons, speeches, presentations, all tell a story. Stories are one of the most natural forms of communication. Whatever your native tongue is, the first language was given to you through stories and songs.

Storytelling quite simply is the art of telling stories. Like any good craft, it may seem like magic to the listener. However, anyone can learn it. Indeed, you see storytelling used not just in obvious formats of literature, film, and television. Rather, the non-entertainment professional world has increasinly embraced Storytelling tactics. Professionals from such diverse areas as advertising, management, project development and acquisition, human ressources, education, mental health, and many more use Storytelling methods as a powerful way of communicating their message.

Why Storytelling in English?

You’ve done the index cards, the fill-in the blanks, language apps, the Cambridge certificate, etc.  and still you find yourself not able to express yourself fluidly and naturally in English?  Then Storytelling in English will give you the tools to use English in a playful yet effective and commanding way.

Too often when using a language other than our native tongue, we get caught on searching for the exact right word or stop ourselves as we’re not quite sure what the correct grammar is. Learning and applying Storytelling skills will help you get to the heart of what it is you want to say and help you avoid getting caught in these traps that otherwise break your flow.

Neuroscience suggests that our brains hard-wired for stories. If we are given information with a narrative thread that speaks to our emotions, we are more likely to remember. This is universal across all languages. And Storytelling will intensify your command of English and bring close to home for you.

Methods

This course will draw on a wide-array of elements from Storytelling Pedagogy, humanistic and naturalistic language training, and crossovers with musical and theatrical methods. We will all leave the course as storytellers and better communicators.

Die Bildungsveranstaltung ist gemäß des Arbeitnehmer-Weiterbildungsgesetzes in NRW (§9) und des Bildungszeit-Gesetzes Baden-Württemberg (BzG BW) anerkannt. Die Anerkennung für weitere Bundesländer geht aus dem Dokument „Bescheinigung für den Arbeitgeber“ hervor, das auf dieser Seite heruntergeladen werden kann. Anerkennungen für weitere Bundesländer können ggf. bei Bedarf beantragt werden. Sprechen Sie uns an!
